just another day at the spa
The last couple of days have been quite busy. After 2 days of being home, we took Audrey to her first doctor visit. Everything looked good, she had a little bit of jaundice, which is common for most babies. To be on the safe side the Dr recommended drawing some blood to check her bili level. Later that afternoon we got that dreadful call, that first time parents (probably any parent) hates. “This is Audrey’s Dr, you need to take her to the ER right now. Her bili is up high and we need to bring down ASAP”. Jenny was devastated and I kicked into coach (daddy) mode. We rushed over to the ER and got her admitted. Her bili was at 20 when we took her in. Within 6 hours of photo therapy it dropped to 18, then to 12 and this morning it was at 10. It wasn’t easy going home without our daughter, but we knew it was the best thing for her. The doctors have been great. So far, Audrey is doing excellent- she just passed her hearing test.
As many of you know jaundice is common. Several factors contributed to her getting jaundice -a different blood type than mommy ( not proven, but highly likely), a hematoba she got during delivery (not significant), and dehydration (mostly from this). A level of 20 is risky, a level of 25 is dangerous, over 25 and it can have long term damage. As long as they are treated, normally it can be controlled rapidly. Fortunately for us. God helping, this was the case.
We want to thank everyone again for their kind regards and prayers. We will keep you all posted here on Audrey’s blog.
some privacy please
rocking out

She still looks beautiful, even through all of this. We are still praying for you guys! Hopefully you can bring Audrey home soon! We love you!
Thanks for keeping us all updated. I’m all super nervous just reading about it. Sounds like she’s getting better though, thank goodness.
I like the photos with the blue light, very stylish/David Lynch.
Hey guys! Thanks for the update… Gabi was a little jaundiced too and we brought her home with a bili blanket. If her levels are going down it’s all that matters, try not to worry, most babies get it at different degrees.
Lots of healthy wishes for Miss Audrey and hugs to mom and dad…
Tia Gabi
Get your tan on baby girl! I guess this is why babies have those 2 day old appointments. Thank god the doctor thought to have her levels tested. Can’t wait to see more pics of your dollface!
